That’s why I’m here, know that you’re not alone! My goal is to provide a welcoming and informative space where you can clarify your doubts. Let’s start!

First symptoms of pregnancy

What better way to start than at the beginning, right? What are the first symptoms of pregnancy? It’s a very common question, especially for those women who are embarking on this journey for the first time.

That’s why I’ve prepared a list of pregnancy symptoms that usually appear right away first weeks of pregnancy:

  • Menstrual delay: One of the first signs of pregnancy is the absence of a menstrual period. If you notice a delay, especially if your cycle is regular, it could be a sign that you are pregnant.
  • Morning nausea: You may feel sick or vomiting, usually in the morning, but it can occur at any time of the day.
  • Extreme tiredness: If you feel more tired than usual, even after a good rest, it could be a sign of pregnancy.
  • Changes in the breasts: The breasts may become tender, due to the hormonal changes that are occurring.
  • Increased urinary frequency: If you notice that you are going to the bathroom more frequently than usual, it could be a symptom of pregnancy.
  • Changes in taste and smell: Certain smells and tastes may become more intense or even unpleasant for you.
  • Food cravings: You may start to have strange cravings for certain foods or feel repulsed by others.

How many days can you take a pregnancy test

You can usually get tested from the first day of your missed period, especially if your menstrual cycle is regular.

However, some home tests, available in pharmacies, promise even earlier results, even 5 days before the delay! Remember, the closer you are to the delay, the more accurate the result will be.

How to take a home pregnancy test?

Before I explain how to take a home pregnancy test, I want to share a personal story. In my first pregnancy, as soon as I started to suspect, based on the first symptoms, I ran to take a home pregnancy test. To my surprise, the two little lines soon appeared!

In my opinion, the home tests that we normally find in pharmacies are quite efficient. They can detect the hCG hormone in urine, the famous pregnancy hormone.

Without a doubt, the home test is a simple way, accessible and quick to confirm pregnancy. Therefore, if you are in doubt, go to the nearest pharmacy and purchase one. Below, see a step-by-step guide on how to take the test at home:

  1. Buy a pregnancy test from a nearby pharmacy.
  2. Follow the test instructions. Generally, you will need to urinate into a small container or directly onto the test.
  3. Wait a few minutes as indicated in the instructions. Most tests within 3 minutes already indicate the result.
  4. After the specified time, check the result. If two dashes or a plus sign appear, congratulations, you’re pregnant! If not, the test was negative.

If you still have suspicions after taking the test, you can wait a few days and do it again.

Healthy eating during pregnancy

A healthy diet during pregnancy is necessary for both the baby’s good development and your own well-being.

To do this, you can include a variety of foods in your main meals nutritious foods, such as fruits, vegetables, lean proteins and whole grains.

Think of each meal as an opportunity to provide the essential nutrients your baby needs to grow strong and healthy.

Also, don’t forget to drink plenty of water to stay hydrated and aid digestion. Remember, you are now taking care of two lives now!

During pregnancy, it is important to know your birth options, whether natural birth, cesarean section or other alternatives. Talk to your trusted doctor, make a birth plan and know what to expect.
